Water Restoration Techniques in Plantation, FL

Water is one of the most destructive forces on Earth, and one of the most underestimated. Even the smallest trickle of water, if left unchecked, can have a devastating effect on a home or business. No matter what the cause, from a burst pipe to an overflowing appliance or a storm surge, water damage can be dangerous and even deadly.

Water is a part of life here in the Plantation, FL area but when it becomes too much to handle, residents and business owners need a water restoration service they can turn to for professional help and that’s where SERVPRO comes in.

There is so much to love in this beautiful area, from sandy beaches to the bustling “Plantation Midtown” business district. With its ideal location in the center of South Florida, Plantation is home to many businesses both large and small as well as several residential neighborhoods including Historic Old Plantation.

Unfortunately, situated along the sunny Atlantic coast, it is also vulnerable to hurricanes, which can bring heavy rains and storm surge that lead to water damage. SERVPRO is part of this community too, so we understand the challenges that the weather can bring and we’re prepared to respond 24/7 to help our neighbors when they’re in need.

Unlike almost any other water restoration service, we have cutting edge training that enables us to respond quickly and professionally to any size job. Once on site, we use the latest techniques and state-of-the-art equipment to handle water damage thoroughly so that your property will look “Like it never even happened.”

We also understand how devastating a water emergency can be and we’ll go out of our way to treat your property as if it were our own, including keeping you informed at every step of the process so you know exactly what’s happening.

The techniques we use are geared toward addressing water damage quickly and thoroughly, regardless of the underlying cause:

  1. Initial Contact – The first step is taking your call for help. We know that disaster can strike at any time and speed is always crucial since the longer water is allowed to stand in one place the more damage it can do. That’s why our operators are available 24/7 so we can take your call and get the process started immediately. They’re also trained to treat you with care as well as ask specific questions to help us determine exactly what resources we’ll need to handle your job.
  2. Inspection and Water Damage Assessment – Within four hours of your call we’ll have a technician on site to perform a thorough inspection and assess the extent of the damage. First and foremost, we’ll identify the source of the problem and do whatever is necessary to stop it, then we’ll determine the exact type of water involved and the extent of the damage. The specific techniques used for restoration will depend on the level of contamination that’s present. Once we know exactly what we’re dealing with, we’ll be able to take the necessary safety precautions as well as move any furniture or other items to facilitate the restoration and prevent rust or stains on carpeting and flooring.
  3. Removal/Extraction – With a thorough assessment of the damage we can then begin the actual removal of all standing water. If we determine that an extensive process will be necessary, SERVPRO can help you to move your belongings to prevent any further damage. We will then employ submersible pumps and industrial grade wet/dry vacuums to remove all standing water as well as moisture detectors and hygrometers to measure the extent of moisture both on surfaces and in the air. Infrared cameras help to detect any “hidden” water behind walls or in ceilings to ensure that every bit of moisture is removed.
  4. Drying/Dehumidification – The next step of the process is to thoroughly dry all surfaces. We use industrial grade air movers and dehumidifiers to ensure that all moisture is completely removed from both the affected area and any surrounding rooms. Throughout the drying process, we’ll monitor progress with moisture meters until we are satisfied that the humidity and moisture levels are once again at a safe level. This monitoring is crucial to avoid warping of floors, walls and furniture as well as other damage.
  5. Cleaning/Sanitizing – Removal and drying are only half of the process. Even after it’s gone, water can leave behind a dirty and potentially hazardous mess, especially if it is contaminated. Once the affected area has been thoroughly dried, we’ll clean everything, including furniture, upholstery, clothing or any other restorable belongings. We’ll use air scrubbers and fogging equipment to help remove any lingering odors and apply antimicrobial, antibacterial and disinfectant treatments to completely sanitize all surfaces. If there are any items that you or your insurance adjuster deem unsalvageable we’ll also do everything we can to help you safely dispose of them.
  6. Restoration – The restoration process doesn’t end with removal and cleaning. In fact, it may just be beginning but SERVPRO is prepared to see it through and make you feel whole again. That may require repair and reconstruction including drywall removal and installation, hardwood or tile floor repair, painting, or carpet repair and installation. We understand how important it is to get your property back to its previous state and we won’t be satisfied until we know that you are.

The Professional Touch You Can Trust

Our comprehensive step-by-step process can cover any size job and ensures that your home or business is fully restored with the care and concern that you’d expect.
