This photo just goes to prove that visible mold on surfaces are just the tip of the iceberg. What looked like a small amount just under the baseboards turned out to be an entire wall filled with mold! 

When we get a water call, one of the first things our technicians do when they arrive is putting all the furniture up on these foam blocks. This serves two purposes. The first being that it protects the feet of the furniture from moisture and water damage. The second purpose is to protect the floors. This image shows the inside of a contained room after hurricane water damage turned into mold. All the items in the room were carefully removed by our team and cleaned with a gentle antimicrobial to stop any mold growth on the items. Anything that lead to anywhere outside the room was sealed off to contain any mold spores floating around in the air while our team got to work ensuring all surfaces were cleaned and the air was purified. 

After Hurricane Irma, many beach-side condos called SERVPRO of Plantation to remove water that had leaked in during the storm. Unfortunately, because of the amount of calls we got in, and the fact that mold can start forming within 72 hours, a lot of water damage jobs developed mold. When this happened at this couple's condo on Ft. Lauderdale Beach, we put up a containment tarp so that we could continue working without spreading mold spores throughout the structure. Here we see a good use of drying an area with tenting. This small shoe store had a water loss. While the walls were wet, no products were damaged and the store choose to remain open during the water damage mitigation. In order to help the store stay operational, our team sectioned off the affected area while the rest of the sales floor remained open. 

This Ft. Lauderdale water loss at a popular retail store turned into a mold remediation job after routine drywall removal exposed some potentially hazardous mold growth beneath the surface. This is why it's always better to hire a professional to handle any water damage, rather than try to dry it out yourself. You never know what's just under the surface. 

Ozone generators are a highly effective tool for deodorizing rooms and upholstery after a fire. This small machine sucks in oxygen from the air and bombards it with electricity to create the harmless odor-neutralizing ozone. This is one of many pet-safe industrial strength cleaning agents used by our SERVPRO teams to clean up light smoke and soot damage from walls, ceilings and other surfaces after a fire. 

In the case of fire and smoke restoration, an air scrubber is used to clean the air not just of smoke and other odors, but of harmful soot and other breathable contaminates in the air. The air scrubber sucks in the contaminated air and pushes it through an activated carbon HEPA filter to "scrub" the air clean of any particles that may be dangerous or unpleasant. 

In fire restoration, smoke odors can be the toughest thing to get rid of. Thermal foggers are one of the devices used in the removal of smoke smell and other associated odors. The active deodorizing ingredient is super-heated in this hand-held machine and pushed out as a thick fog to absorb and neutralize all odors in the affected area. 

After Hurricane Irma, many condos had water damage in just one area of the unit. Because the room was so large, one air mover and dehumidifier would take too long to dry the floor where the water had entered. Rather than risk secondary damages such as mold waiting for it to dry, our technicians isolated the affected area with a plastic tarp and connected an air mover to one end. This effectively dries out the flooring where it's needed very quickly.
