Water Damage Restoration: A Checklist
With a wide range of hiking and biking trails and unique sites like the Plantation Farmer’s Market and the nearby Deerfield Beach Boardwalk, Plantation, FL is a nature lover’s delight. Unfortunately, Mother Nature isn’t always as welcoming as we’d like and when storms strike they can bring devastating water damage to a home or business.
No matter what the cause, water damage can be very costly so getting it addressed quickly is important. That’s why the professionals at SERVPRO of Plantation should be your first call for any water related emergency. We’re prepared to take your call 24/7 and we’ve got the training and expertise to handle any job.
Our technicians follow a specific checklist to ensure that the restoration process is completed quickly and thoroughly:
- Identify the Source and Type of Water – The first step is identifying the source and stopping it to prevent further damage. At the same time, we’ll determine the level of contamination by identifying the type of water involved.
- Inspect the Premises and Assess the Damage – Next we’ll thoroughly inspect the entire premises and assess the extent of the damage, identifying any particular safety issues that need to be addressed.
- Check for Mold – Mold is one of the biggest dangers presented by any water damage, so we’ll check for any signs of mold growth and perform a complete mold remediation.
- Remove Standing Water – Submersible pumps and industrial strength wet/dry vacs are used to remove all standing water.
- Deodorize and Disinfect – We use deodorizers and EPA-registered disinfectants as antimicrobial treatments to ensure the entire premises is completely clean and safe.
- Determine What Can be Salvaged – We’ll perform a complete inventory as we go along and if anything is deemed unsalvageable by you or your adjuster, we’ll make sure it’s safely removed.
- Monitor Temperature/Humidity Levels – Temperature and humidity levels will be carefully monitored throughout the restoration to facilitate the drying process.
- Thoroughly Dry – All moisture is removed from the surface and air using industrial strength air movers and dehumidifiers.
Water damage can leave you stressed, but you don’t have to go it alone. Call SERVPRO of Plantation and rest easy knowing you’ve got neighbors on hand to help get you on your feet again.
