Your Pets are Family
Plantation is no stranger to hurricanes or other severe storms. If harsh weather forces an evacuation, SERVPRO® of Plantation agrees that leaving the pets behind is not an option. To make such evacuations easier, we're sharing some information from the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA).
Be Ready before Evacuation is Necessary:
- Keep all information on tags current
- Make sure the tags are securely attached to the collar
- Microchips are good backups, and are important for animals that can't/won't wear collars
- Keep photos of yourself with each pet
- Learn which places welcome pets
- Lists of all medications and conditions
- Comfortable and secure carrier for each pet
- Secure leash or harness for each animal (when practical)
- Copies of all prescriptions
Pets Need Emergency Kits Too:
- Proof of vaccinations, veterinary records
- At least a 3-day supply of food and water for each pet
- First-aid kit
- Favorite toys and treats
- Bedding, especially if you can bring the favorites
- Anything that will ease your pet's anxiety (thunder-shirts, something that smells you)
- Enough medication for 3 or more days
